MIAMI (CBSMiami) – It's very often the most common question a pregnant woman hears…'do you have a name?'
Names are a pretty big deal and, for some, naming a baby is a daunting task while others have had a name in mind before conception. Either way, a look at the Social Security list for the top 10 boy or girl names can serve as a good reference.
The Social Security Administration list of Top Baby names for 2014 is out. Here's a look at the findings:
Noah, for the second year in a row, is at the number 1 spot while Emma, number 2 in 2013, holds first place in 2014. Emma was once upon a time number 1, several years ago in 2008.
And again, no change from 2013, Liam is the number 2 boy name. Olivia, number 3 in 2013, is second for the little ladies.
Other boy names, like Jacob, Mason, William, Daniel, remain top contenders for 2014 as they were in 2013.
Girls names, like Sophia, Olivia, Isabella, Ava, Mia, Emily, Abigail and Madison are all on 2013 and 2014's list (order different). Bumped out of the 10th spot is Elizabeth and is now replaced with Charlotte—which could possibly spike for 2015 after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's name choice, Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge.
A throw back name, which held the number 1 spot at times in the 40's and 50's, is the boy name James which comes in as number 9 in 2014.
