Shots Fired At Miami Beach Night Club
MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) - Crime tape roped off about a block of 71st Street on Miami Beach while police investigated a shooting at The Office Gentlemen's Club.
Neighbors heard the shots about three in the morning.
"Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop," is how Brigitte Andrade described the sound. "We just heard shots fired. There must have been at least six or seven the first round. My friend actually thought it was fireworks. I said, 'No, that wasn't fireworks. That was gunshots,' so we came out on the balcony and we heard another clip go off, another six or seven shots. There must have been a total of at least 12 shots."
Miami Beach police said there was some sort of fight inside the club. As security ushered those involved outside several shots were fired. One person was injured in the gunfire which left holes in the windows of nearby businesses.
Andrade said she's never heard gunfire here before.
"This was the first time I ever actually heard gunshots," said Andrade.
At another location of The Office near The Falls, a shooting earlier this year left one man dead.
Surveillance cameras were rolling as police said a fight inside that club spilled out into the parking lot.
But on 71st Street, many neighbors said they generally feel safe.
"I walk the dogs and everything by myself so scary," said Sydney Owens.
"It's pretty quiet up here compared to the rest of the beach so it's kind of unusual to have something like that up here," added Vanessa Cutler.
"That was very surprising, but it was really surprising how many shots were fired," said Andrade.
The person who was shot was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in stable condition, according to police. That person's name has not been released.
