Shooting Victim Found In Grocery Store Parking Lot
NORTH MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Police are investigating the shooting death of a man Sunday morning.
According to officials, Juan Marimon, 52, was found shot multiple times at 3:45 a.m. at N.E. 6 Avenue & 129 Street.
The body of the man was found in a grocery store parking lot across from an apartment complex.
Officials believe the shooting took place at the apartment complex and the man possibly tried to drive to a hospital, but could not make it there.
A resident, only identified as Don, at the complex said the building security guard for the complex is the man who was shot.
"I couldn't believe he got shot," said Don. "You're being paid to secure the building and you're shot and killed."
Blood stains could be seen at the entrance of the apartment building Sunday afternoon.
Police haven't confirmed the man was a security guard at the building and they have not located a gunman.
However, police said the man likely tried to drive himself from the building to the parking lot at the Publix across the street.
"It's a parking lot that's lit and it's possible that he thought someone might have been working at that Publix," said Major Neal Cuevas with the North Miami Police Department.
Witnesses in the area of the shooting said they heard three to four gunshots.
Residents of the apartment building said they are nervous since police have not made any arrests.
"For someone to get killed in the building, and I've been living here for about four or five years, that never happened," Don added.
Anyone with information about the crime can call Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
