Four men shot in Miami; police search for clues

MIAMI - Four family members were hospitalized Monday afternoon following a shooting in Miami's Brownsville neighborhood.

Miami police responded to a ShotSpotter alert around 1:20 p.m. near NW 16th Avenue and 59th Street, where they discovered evidence of a shooting, including 24 gunshots fired and at least 12 shell casings near homes in the area.

Authorities said the victims, aged 17, 18, 19, and 20, were reportedly leaving a friend's house when someone opened fire on their vehicle.

One victim sustained eight gunshot wounds, while another was shot in the foot.

Three victims were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital as trauma alerts, and a fourth drove themselves there. All are stable following surgery, according to family members.

The victims' family expressed frustration at the scene, claiming medical responders delayed treatment while police questioned the injured.

"I was trying to figure out why they weren't getting medical attention. Everybody is bleeding, but no one was helping," said the mother of one victim.

A source close to the investigation said police are looking for a red Cadillac Escalade that took off northbound on N.W. 17th Avenue.

Police had not released a suspect description.
