MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Authorities arrested family members of a 1-year old Miami boy who had been taken by his mother over the weekend - prompting a nationwide Amber Alert.
Miami Police cancelled the Amber Alert Sunday night after they found Logan Hernandez with his mother Leydibet Hernandez and his grandmother Lazara Ortiz in Texas.
That same day, Logan's legal guardian Rebeca Rodriguez, 58, was arrested.
According to her arrest report, she originally told police Leydibet had taken the child while they were sleeping. After the investigation, police said, she had given a false story and actually was aware the mother had taken the child and was heading to Texas on Saturday.
Rodriguez is charged with interfering in a Florida Department of Children and Families child custody case and giving a false report to police.
Rodriguez's son, Juan Pablo Mesa Jr., 33, who lives with Leydibet was arrested on the same charges.
Lazara Ortiz, Logan's grandmother, is also under arrest. According to her police report, Ortiz along with Leydibet were heading to Laredo, Texas en route to Mexico when authorities caught up to them Sunday.
Ortiz allegedly bought the bus tickets for Leydibet and the baby. The police report states she was aware the mother's custody rights had been revoked but she felt the need to help her keep her son.
As for the child, he will be brought back to Miami and will remain in foster care.
A jail in Webb County Texas turned Leydibet loose saying they had no extradition request, and weren't going to hold her "over a custody dispute," according to Laredo Police Investigator Joey Baeza. If she returns to Florida, she will be subject to arrest.
The attorney for Logan's mother is still trying to sort things out.
"The actions taken over the past day were unexpected and I don't think anyone can jump to a conclusion without knowing the full details of what transpired," said the attorney who declined to say why the mother lost custody of Logan.
