Sentence Reduced For Man At Center Of Biogenesis Steroid Scandal

MIAMI (CBSMiami) — A federal judge has granted a sentence reduction for Anthony Bosch, the man accused of selling steroids to Alex Rodriguez and other Major League Baseball players for years.
In February 2015, federal Judge Darrin Gayles sentenced Bosch to 48 months in federal prison, followed by three years supervised release.
During a hearing Thursday, Judge Gayles reduced Bosch's sentence to 32 months, cutting it by a third.
Federal prosecutors had requested the reduction because his cooperation led to other indictments.
Bosch ran the Biogenesis Clinic in Coral Gables. He and a handful of co-conspirators were accused of supplying athletes, both professional and amateur, with performance enhancing injections at the clinic.
Among the others charged were A-Rod's cousin Yuri Sucart; Carlos Javier Acevedo of Miami; Jorge Augustine Velazquez of Miami; Christopher Benjamin Engroba of Miami; Lazaro Daniel Collazo of Hialeah and Juan Carlos Nuñez of Fort Lauderdale.
Bosch pleaded guilty in October 2014 to conspiracy to distribute testosterone to MLB players and others. Seven others admitted to their roles in the operation.
Rodriguez served a season-long suspension but resumed his Yankees career last year.
No players were charged with crimes.
