Selfies Could Be Bad For Your Relationship

MIAMI (CBS) – Obsessed with sharing photos of you and your significant other?

According to a new study, all of those selfies could damage your relationship.

For the study, researchers had 420 Instagram users complete an online survey questionnaire.

The study, by Florida State University academics Jessica Ridgway and Russell Clayton, found that people who were more satisfied with their body image posted more selfies to Instagram. In turn they reported more conflicts with their romantic partners, such as jealous arguments about the attention the photos had garnered online.

If the partner feels jealous or threatened, they may begin to excessively monitor of the other's Instagram feed, according to psych.org. If they continue to see incresed attention from followers, it could exacerbate the situation and potentially lead to greater conflict, cheating, or a break-up.
