FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - A hurt and bleeding man died after he was run over early Thursday morning in Wilton Manors.
Broward Sheriff's investigators are trying to piece together what led to a badly injured Raymond King collapsing near the intersection of of Northeast 6 Avenue and 27 Court.
King was last seen at approximately 11 p.m. at The Hunter's Club, a local bar just a 10 minute walk from his home on the night he died.
Blood evidence from the scene suggests that he had walked near the sidewalk along the east side of 6th Avenue. He then sat down or fell down in the middle of the northbound lane, according to detectives because that is where they found a large pool of blood.
They're still trying to determine how King became injured in the first place.
While he lay in the road, King was run over by a vehicle traveling northbound and estimated to be moving at approximately 30 miles per hour, according to sheriff's investigators. The driver of the vehicle did not remain on scene.
The force of the impact sent King's body approximately 37 feet onto the grass wall on the east side of the street.
Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue pronounced King dead at the scene at 3:12 a.m.
