Search Continues For Missing Fort Lauderdale 14-Year-Old
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - The Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued a Missing Child Alert Monday for a Fort Lauderdale girl last seen Friday morning.
Shaina McBride, 14, left the boat where she lives with her father near Isle of Venice along Las Olas Blvd. Friday at around 9 a.m. and hasn't been seen or heard from since.
Her father, David, immediately reported the disappearance to police, but he said officers didn't actively start searching for his daughter until Monday.
"It's been so much wasted time," David McBride told CBS4's Lauren Pastrana. "I'm irritated with it. Everybody I know is irritated with it. That nothing was done before now."
Her father says Shaina left without her phone charger, purse, or shoes.
"She absolutely did not run away. Absolutely did not go nowhere voluntarily with someone," he said.

Shaina's brother Benne McBride flew in from Idaho to help his dad with the search.
"I do realize that with a 14 year old to be sure like I was trying to be that this wasn't a run away situation, but still it was aggravating now knowing that it wasn't that we couldn't have started sooner," Benne McBride explained.
On Monday, police divers and K9s scoured the area looking for clues and to rule out the possibility Shaina may have slipped into the water unnoticed.
Fort Lauderdale Police tweeted about the case, reminding people to call with tips about Shaina's potential whereabouts.
She did have her phone when she vanished.
Her father is desperately trying to figure out if she made any calls or sent any text leading up to her disappearance.
"There's no boyfriend. Nothing for her to go down the street for her to see. This is her world," McBride said.
The family has a message for anyone who may be with the girl.'
"Let the girl live her life. Everything else is between them and God," Benne McBride said.
"Let my child go," her father begged. "She's got a right to a life."
Shaina McBride is very active in her church, and members there say they haven't heard from her in days.
Anyone with information should contact Fort Lauderdale Police or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
