SARASOTA (CBSMiami) – A Sarasota woman says she worked with the FBI for years to bring down Subway spokesman Jared Fogle.
In an interview with CNN affiliate WWSB, Rochelle Herman says she became friends with Fogle in the mid-2000's when went to Sarasota on vacation.
She says his inappropriate comments started on that first visit to Florida when he said something about middle school girls. The things he told her went downhill from there.
Those conversations lead her to the FBI, where she says she spent more than four years recording conversations with Fogle for agents.
She said his exploits where not limited to the U.S. He apparently told her about meeting girls on his international tours and then visits to Thailand.
Herman says she wishes he'd get a harsher punishment than what he'll likely get after pleading guilty today in Indianapolis to child-pornography charges.
Fogle expects to go to prison. He will do his time.
Prosecutors released documents Wednesday laying out the charges against Fogle.
They accuse the former pitchman of traveling to New York City to pay for sex acts with minors.
Fogle is also accused of knowingly receiving child pornography secretly produced by Russell Taylor – the executive director of Fogle's foundation.
The court appearance comes six weeks after federal agents seized computers and other evidence from Fogle's home.
Under the terms of the plea deal, Fogle has agreed to pay $100,000 in restitution to each of the 14 minor victims. He will also register as a sex offender.
Also, the government will not recommend a sentence of more than 12 and a half years in prison, while Fogle will not ask for a sentence of less than five years.
