DEERFIELD BEACH (CBSMiami) --  A South Florida Santa traded in his sleigh for a fire truck this weekend while collecting toys for a cause.

Santa along with his off-duty firefighting elves, stopped along Federal Highway in Deerfield Beach collecting toys for the Third Annual Fill the Fire Truck event.

The items collected will be given kids with cancer.

The event was sponsored by Broward County Professional Fire Fighters and Paramedics, and the International Association of Fire Fighters.

Every year, they support the Children's Cancer Caring Center through various initiatives to make the holidays a little brighter for some very special children.

Those wanting to give a gift can find the big red fire truck in front of Baja Café located at 1310 S. Federal Hwy and donate a new, unwrapped toy.
