Runner Struck, Killed During Lauderdale Half-Marathon

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami/AP) — A man struck by an SUV during a half-marathon in Ft. Lauderdale over the weekend has died.
Arthur Knochenhauer, 80, was running in the Michelob Ultra 13.1 Marathon on Sunday when the driver of the SUV drove into a closed portion of the route and hit him. Knochenhauer was taken to the hospital, where he died.
The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
No charges were immediately filed in the case.
