Run Away Pines Teen Found Safe

PEMBROKE PINES (CBSMiami) – A teen who ran away from home in Pembroke Pines after a fight with his mother has been found safe.

Less than 24 hours after 14-year old Rayshawn McClear's mother issued an emotional plea to the public to help her find her son, he was picked up in Miramar.  Pembroke Pines police said a Good Samaritan who saw McClear's picture on the news, spotted him and called police.

McClear had been missing for nine days.  Pembroke Pines police said on February 3rd, he and his mother, Natalee Butler, got into an argument over school.  After the argument, Butler went to the grocery store.

"I was a little upset with him at that time and I left, went to the store and when I came back he was gone," said Butler.

So was his bicycle. However, McClear left his cell phone, and clothes, and didn't take any cash or credit cards.

"At first I was angry at him but at this point I'm just worried because I don't know where he is," said Butler. "I don't know where he was sleeping at night, I don't know what he's eating throughout the day."

Butler said her son has run away in the past. Police found him sleeping in supermarkets and empty homes. This time was different.

Butler said during the argument her son mentioned that he wanted to go to Texas to meet his birth father. Police said they were concerned he would try to act on that intent.

Pembroke Pines police said they decided to go to the public because their detectives had hit a wall and were out of leads.
