Report: Monroe Seeking Around $10 Million Per Season

DAVIE (CBSMiami) – If the Miami Dolphins do in fact covet left tackle Eugene Monroe as reports have suggested, it's going to cost the team at least $10 million per season to get him.

According to the Carroll County Times, the Baltimore Ravens were offering Monroe between $8 million and $9 million annually, but Monroe is seeking a contract worth at least $10 million annually. Due to the wide divide between the Ravens and Monroe, the Baltimore Sun reports it's unlikely Monroe will return.

The Dolphins have a huge need at left tackle and Monroe, at just 26-years-old, would fit the mold of a good left tackle for the next few seasons. However, good teams like the Ravens don't let great players get away which could be a red flag for Monroe.

NFL pundits have said Monroe excels at pass blocking, but has struggled with run blocking. The question is does Monroe deserve to get paid like a top left tackle?

The Dolphins have little choice but to pay big money for whichever left tackle the team chooses to sign. But everyone knows the Dolphins will be coming after both Monroe and Branden Albert hard as soon as teams can contact agents starting Saturday.

Besides Monroe and Albert, the other two top tackles on the market are Jared Veldheer of the Oakland Raiders and Anthony Collins from the Cincinnati Bengals.
