Report: Miami Marlins 'Have Keen Interest' in Don Mattingly

Those Miami Marlins always seem to be tinkering with their roster and staff.

The latest report indicates some believe owner Jeffrey Loria "is ultimately hoping to land Don Mattingly," via CBS Sports:

That may seem farfetched now, but if the Dodgers don't get out of the first round (or perhaps even the second), it might be something to watch. With a new regime in LA and an ownership team hungry for a title, nothing is guaranteed there.

Meanwhile, Loria, a New Yorker, apparently developed a relationship with Mattingly, and is intrigued by the possibility.

Phil Nevin will also interview for the managerial job, reported Bob Nightengale of USA Today. Many more interviews are expected, as the Marlins are said to be working off a very long list.

Will the Marlins land another big name to manage their roster after their GM-to-manager experiment with Dan Jennings fell on its face this season?

Stay tuned.
