MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Heat are going to have a different look in 2015-16.
Multiple reports have emerged saying that the Heat are not going to pick up the second-year option on forward Michael Beasley.
Last season was Beasley's third tour with Miami after being signed in March.
He was drafted second overall by the Heat in 2008 before being traded during the summer of 2010 after LeBron James brought his talents to South Beach.
Beasley was also brought aboard to the Heat's 2014 squad that lost in the NBA Finals to the San Antonio Spurs.
In 24 games with Miami last season Beasley averaged 8.8 points and 3.7 rebounds while shooting 43.4% from the field.
Declining the $1.27 million option for Beasley gives the Heat more cap space as they try to lock up guards Dwyane Wade and Goran Dragic.
Wade and Luol Deng have yet to inform the Heat whether they will be taking the player options to extend their contracts through next season. Those decisions must be made by June 29th.
Should they decide to opt in, Wade will earn $16.1 million while Deng would receive $10.1 million.
