Reckless Driver Arrested After Doing Doughnuts On Pompano Beach Golf Course
POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) – A driver in a dark sedan inexplicably drove onto the fairway of a Palm Aire Golf Course Thursday morning causing panic and stunning golfers and residents.
The Broward Sheriff's Office said the driver was doing circles at the course, located in the 2600 block of N. Palm Aire Drive, in Pompano Beach, around 11:18 a.m., until he was confronted by a golf course worker.
That is when the two got into a fight and BSO said the course worker suffered some minor cuts and bruises.
"Panic struck everything. The course was shut down," said golfer Jim Riley who was just about to tee off when the drama unfolded.
"We saw the car marks and all the damage. It was unbelievable," said Kam Murali, who was golfing with Riley.
BSO said they have the driver in custody.
It's not known what prompted the driver to veer onto the course.
