The protesters are upset over recent deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner involving police officers in New York, Missouri and other states.

The group took to social media to drum up support using #ShutItDown and #BlackLivesMatter.

Saturday night, the protest moved toward the Winterfest Boat Parade in Fort Lauderdale as the group chanted, "Whose streets? Our street. Whose streets? Our streets."

"Right now, we understand there is a boat show with millions of dollars and people who don't listen to our story," said protester Danny Agnew with Dream Defenders.

Two people were arrested for disorderly conduct, according to police.

The attorney for the Dream Defenders said things got heated between drivers and protesters.

"Cars were coming into the intersection and it was like a stand off," said Attorney Veronda Williams.

Police told protesters to return to the sidewalks or face being arrested.

"We've given ample opportunity to protest. You've been given ample opportunity to march. At this point, you can return to the sidewalks. If you continue to block the roadways, you will be arrested," officers told the crowd.

After the warning to return to the sidewalks, the protests came to an end.

"Now that there's been two arrests people are going to say, oh they're out there acting unruly," added Williams. "That wasn't really the case and we don't want to be out there."

Broward Boulevard was closed for a short time as the protesters moved through the area.
