Proposal Filed To Honor FSU's Jameis Winston
TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami) – A proposal was filed Friday by Sen. Bill Montford, D-Tallahassee, to honor Florida State University quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston.
The proposal, which is similar to a measure (HR 9003) filed last month by Reps. Marti Coley, R-Marianna, and Alan Williams, D-Tallahassee, says the Senate "recognizes the outstanding performance of Florida State University quarterback Jameis Winston during the 2013 football season and congratulates him on his election as the 2013 recipient of the Heisman Memorial Trophy."
Along with winning the Heisman, Winston led the Seminoles to the national football championship, though he also faced controversy during the season because of a sexual-assault allegation.
He was not charged in the case.
