Propane Tank Explosion Rocks Dade Neighborhood

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) -- Lunch will not be served by a food truck in Southwest Miami-Dade after it was destroyed in an explosion.

The blast occurred Thursday morning while the truck was parked at 1970 SW 57th Place.

Investigators said a propane tank inside exploded. It was so intense neighbors who live across the street felt the rattle.

"I heard a really big explosion. I was sitting in the sofa and I hear this big boom.The whole house was shaking," neighbor Luis Jaular.

According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue some nearby homes suffered minor damages due to the explosion.

Video from Chopper 4 showed a large debris field where the lunch truck was parked. A pile of mangled metal was seen in the middle of the street with pieces scattered everywhere and dozens of broken windows.

There were no injuries but nerves are on edge after the explosion.

"I was really scared I didn't know what it was. I thought a bomb went off," said Jaular.

Eugenio Leyva, who lives about 100 feet from the explosion said he was sleeping when the window in his bedroom burst.

"I heard the explosion and the pieces of glass from the explosion fell inside and outside. I said what is happening and when I looked outside, I saw the truck filled with smoke," said Leyva.

Investigators believe the explosion was an accident.
