MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- The race between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton is too close to call, according to a newly released Quinnipiac University poll.

Findings show the two candidates are in a virtual dead heat with 44 percent of voters saying they would vote for Clinton and 43 percent saying they would vote for Trump. Libertarian Party Candidate Gary Johnson came in at 8 percent and Green Party candidate Jill Stein with 2 percent.

The results compare to their September 14th poll showing Clinton leading with 41 percent, Trump with 39 percent and Johnson with 13 percent.

The results were released ahead of the first presidential debate in the 2016 race Monday night.

Poll results show 41 percent of likely voters believe Clinton will win the debate as opposed to 32 percent who think Trump will win it.

About 84 percent said they plan to watch the highly anticipated event.
