Sister: Ft. Lauderdale Murder Victim Beaten, Knew Her Killer

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Police are investigating a murder mystery Thursday after a woman was found dead in a residential neighborhood.

Cynthia Hardeman, 45, police say was found dead at 418 NW 13th Avenue in her apartment in Ft. Lauderdale.

The homicide, police say, was reported Thursday morning shortly after 8:30.

Grieving friends and family members gathered in the neighborhood trying to comfort each other as homicide detectives look for clues into who killed the woman.

"All I was told is she was beaten real bad," her sister said.

Erica Hines believes her sister knew her killer.

"It's no stranger.  It's someone my sister knew.  The streets will talk," said Hines.

Hardeman's violent death has shaken her entire neighborhood.

All who knew her say she had a big heart and would help anyone in need.

"She would let people sleep in her house.  She would mow lawns, whatever, to make ends meet," said her cousin Angie Keel.
