PLANTATION (CBSMiami) -- Hundreds of guests were forced to flee from a house party after shots rang out inside a Plantation home, leaving four injured and one dead.
"It was chaotic. Everyone was just running for their lives, honestly," recalled a party-goer.
Plantation Police said they were investigating a noise complaint late Saturday night at a home at 12050 N.W. 4th Court when they heard gunfire erupt from inside.
"About three or four (shots)," said a 19-year-old who didn't want to give his name. "I was freaking out, I'm fearing for my life. And what I'm hearing is, I'm hearing all these shots, so the first thing I'm thinking is just try to get out."
Inside, officers discovered Serge Pierre Dumas, 28, deceased.
Three females and another male were hospitalized with gunshot wounds.
"I saw one of the girls get shot in her butt. I saw her bleeding and everything," said the teenager.
About 400 people were at the party. The teen said the chaos and commotion led to much confusion.
"I didn't realize what was going on. And I heard them say, 'She got shot, she got shot,'" the teen said. "I was just mind-blown, I didn't know."
Friends helped the girl outside to wait for paramedics.
The party was announced via an ad on Facebook and charged a $5 cover to get in, guests said. The teen thought many of the people there likely didn't know each other.
"I shoulda stayed home. That's how I'm feeling right now. It's traumatizing 'cause, like, someone died," he said. "It coulda been you, you know?"
Detectives are now looking for the shooter and are urging anyone with information about the gunman to come forward.
