Police identified the shooter as Jorge Masvidal Fernandez, 67, of Miami, according to a police report. It was not immediately clear if bond has been set in the case.

Investigators have identified the victim as Luis Leoncini. He was rushed to HCA Florida Healthcare in Kendall for treatment of gunshot wounds to both of his arms. Leoncini's injuries were believed to be non life-threatening, officials said.

Police were called to the home in southwest Miami-Dade and located in the 5800 block of SW 118th Ave. shortly after 3 p.m.

Authorities said the shooter and victim agree on what triggered the attack.

"They were in a heated discussion," Det. Chris Thomas of the Miami-Dade Police Media Relations Unit said.  "It turned into an argument that escalated to the point that the shooter shot the victim."

According to the police report, an officer was flagged down by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue at the intersection of SW 64th Street and SW 118th Avenue.

The victim told police that he was shot during a dispute with the suspect that happened inside the home.

Police did not immediately say what led to the argument between the two men.

Police questioned others who were inside the home at the time of the incident.

There were at least four people inside the house, police said.

CBS News Miami has learned that retired MMA fighter Jorge Masvidal, 38, owns the property. He was not involved during the shooting, police said.

Images from Chopper4 showed at least four Miami-Dade police cruisers positioned outside the residence.

Authorities had blocked off a roadway leading to the MMA athlete's house.

The star, who is known as Gamebred, now promotes his own events, including South Florida's first sanctioned bare-knuckle brawl Friday in Sunrise. While he is well-known to some, Masvidal was not to all of his neighbors.

"I don't even know him," a neighbor who did not want to be identified said.  "I didn't even know who lived there, actually.  What's his name?"

Still, details of the shooting surprised several.

"(I feel) distress like anybody would," Don Harris, a neighbor who lives on a farm said.  "I feel for anybody on either side of the issue."
