Police ID bicyclist killed in hit-and-run in Fort Lauderdale
FORT LAUDERDALE — Police on Tuesday identified the man who was hit by a vehicle while he was riding a bicycle along Davie Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale.
The victim in Saturday's crash is 58-year-old Kenneth Solovay.
Also, the suspect vehicle, a silver Mercedes-Benz, has been located and seized.
Traffic homicide investigators are seeking the public's assistance in this investigation. They are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or anyone with information about the driver of the suspect vehicle to contact Investigator Jill Hirsch at (954) 828-5753. At 6:08 a.m., police were called out to 2000 W. Davie Blvd. near Interstate 95 in response to a crash involving a vehicle and bicyclist. Upon arrival, officers determined that the suspected vehicle fled the scene.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital where he died, police told CBS News Miami.
The circumstances surrounding the hit-and-run are under investigation.
