MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Miramar police have arrested a former Everglades High School student they say threatened to 'shoot up' his former school.
Javary Meriwether, 28, was arrested in Miramar on Sunday.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Javary confessed to posting the threatening messages and said he did it "because his mother was stressing him out."
He also said the messages were posted "only as a joke, and "had no intention of carrying out the threat," according to the court document.
Meriwether faces a charge of Intimidation/Writing or Sending a Threat To Kill or Injure.
Police said in a tweet that although there are no credible threats, they increased police presence in and around area high schools.
Authorities said the goal is to ease concerns and provide a greater sense of security for students and staff.
In October of last year, Miramar police investigated another threat aimed towards the school.
The student in that incident was identified and interviewed by police.
