Police: Florida Officer Shot Searching For Shooting Suspect

ST PETERSBURG (AP) — A St. Petersburg police officer was shot Sunday evening while responding to another call of a shooting, authorities said.

The Tampa Bay Times reports that police said the officer was responding to a call reporting another person shot in the Coffee Pot Bayou area. He was searching for a suspect when he was shot.

Police said the officer was taken to a St. Petersburg hospital with injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening. A suspect was taken into custody in St. Petersburg, west of Coffee Pot Bayou.

Police were keeping the area where the suspect was arrested roped off. The distance between each scene is about three miles.
