MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Five people are in custody after a car chase ended in Overtown on Monday.
Miami Police said officers spotted a Honda Accord that had been reported stolen around 4 p.m. Monday morning by someone who said they were carjacked in Little Havana.
Investigators said officers tried to pull the car over but the driver sped off.
"He wasn't going to have it that way. He basically put it in reverse and rammed one of our detectives vehicles, literally pushed him back and took off from there," said Officer Rene Pimentel.
During the chase, the suspects reportedly collided into several police cars and hit at least three other civilian cars including Joe Bykes' Cadillac.
"My life is more important and thank god for that," Bykes told CBS4's Travell Eiland.

A woman who did not want to be identified said she was crossing the street on her bike when the driver almost ran her down.
"It shows that they have no regard for human life at all. They don't care who they hit trying to getaway," she said.
Police said the suspects eventually turned down 10th street, which is a one way, going in the wrong direction, when they lost control of the car and crashed.
The five people bailed from the four-door sedan they were driving at N.W. 7th Ave. and 10th St., but police were able to catch them right away.
