FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - The traffic pattern of southbound I-95 in southern Broward will change beginning this week.
Starting Tuesday night, workers will begin installing plastic poles along southbound I-95 between the new express lanes and the general use lanes from just south of Broward Boulevard to Hallandale Beach Boulevard.
It will take several nights to get all the poles installed. Signs will provide drivers with advance notice of where the plastic poles end after each night's installation and where the new express lane entrance and exits are located after the installation is complete.
Drivers who travel on southbound I-95 in this area should be aware a new southbound express lane entrance will be established just south of Griffin Road.
When complete, drivers in the express lanes will not be able to exit at Hallandale Beach Boulevard
Tolls on 95 Express are collected electronically, so drivers need to have a SunPass account and properly affix their SunPass transponder to their windshield. If they don't a bill will be sent to the address linked to the vehicle's license plate.
This work is being done as part of the 95 Express Phase 2 Construction Project that is extending the existing express lanes north into southern Broward.
Construction began in November 2011, will be completed this spring at an estimated cost of $120 million.
