WASHINGTON D.C. (CBSMiami) -- On Monday, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum issued a statement to all visitors to not partake in the game 'Pokémon Go' on their premises.
"We feel playing 'Pokémon Go' in a memorial dedicated to the victims of Nazism is inappropriate," Andrew Hollinger, the Washington, D.C., museum's communications director, told Yahoo News.
"We encourage visitors to use their phones to share and engage with museum content while here," he continued.
The new game, which was released earlier this month, has taken the country by storm.
"Pokemon Go" has given a bit of fantasy to the world for players. Players have to physically walk to different locations to collect the different Pokémon characters.
Some critics have noted some participants were catching Pokémon at the September 11 memorial in New York City.
