Officer hospitalized following 2-vehicle crash involving Plantation police car

Plantation police officer injured in 2-vehicle crash

MIAMI - Authorities are investigating two crashes involving Plantation police Tuesday afternoon, including a two-vehicle collision that sent an officer to the hospital.

The officer-involved crash happened at the intersection of Davie Road and State Road 84 in Davie. That officer was transported to a local hospital by Davie Fire Rescue.

The driver of the second vehicle, a construction company's pickup truck, was evaluated by first responders and transported to a hospital.

The collision caused significant damage to the Plantation police vehicle, a black Dodge Charger, with its front end damaged. The pickup truck sustained severe damage to its front passenger side.

The condition of the police officer and the other driver is unknown. Officials have not disclosed what led to the crash.

The other crash occurred in Plantation at the intersection of University Drive and Peters Road, where one Mercedes SUV overturned. Shards of glass and vehicle debris could be seen scattered at the scene.

The Plantation Police Department has not provided details about the officer's involvement or the circumstances leading to the crashes.

The intersection of Davie Road and State Road 84 remained closed during the investigation.
