MIAMI (CBSMiami) --A plane was forced to land in the Everglades Wednesday.

Chopper4 was over the scene in West Broward where a plane was spotted, fully intact about 20 minutes after the plane made the emergency landing.

Two people were spotted unharmed and standing by the plane - a Piper PA28.

Around 12:20 p.m., rescue crews arrived and airlifted the men to safety.

Federal Aviation Administration officials say the student and instructor pilot were returning from a flight when they encountered trouble with the engine. That's when the instructor found a place to land safely - a levy near U.S. Highway 27.

The FAA is investigating what went wrong with the plane.
