DAVIE (CBSMiami) -- Before a store clerk could open a Davie Pizza Hut Monday morning, he was robbed at gunpoint.
Davie Police said a man-armed with a gun- stormed into the Pizza Hut located at 11316 W State Road 84 just after 10 a.m.
"He brandished a firearm, threatened the individual working here and demanded money. He fled the store with some money. We don't know how much at this point and I don't really have a good description of him at this time," said Capt. Dale Engle with Davie Police.
Reportedly the worker's hands were bound with duct tape, and although police won't confirm, an officer could be seen carrying away a ream of tape.
Police said the clerk was not hurt.
"I saw the guy and he looked devastated," said Sandra Mitto who works next door at a dry cleaners.
She said she's glad she didn't open her back door as usual in the morning because the robber went through the back door of the Pizza Hut.
"It is scary being here all by myself," said Mitto. "I may have found myself in a situation We need better security."
Bike shop owner Alex Lai feels the same way. His store in the same plaza has been broken into three times. Once they broke through a wall. Another time, it was through the ceiling. They ended up carting away bicycle after bicycle.
"As a business owner, we invest a lot. They take a little bit of our dream," said Lai.
This is the third such type robbery to happen in Davie since December. Last month, two gas stations were robbed. There was also a 7-Eleven robbed with a similar method.
At this point, police are not saying if any of these robberies are connected.
Anyone with information in the case is urged to call Broward County Crimestoppers at (954) 493- TIPS.
