POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) -- A teen is under arrest after he reportedly threatened to kill students and had a pipe bomb in his home.
The 16-year-old, from Pompano Beach, was arrested Monday night.
His father told CBS4's Peter D'Oench, "The report from the authorities is all alleged. Talk to the police. They will tell you the same thing too."
The father would not give his opinion about the charges and when he was asked if he had any knowledge at all about what his son was doing he said, "I have no comment at all."
The Broward Sheriff's Office says the teen was playing an online video game that same evening and made the alarming statement.
That's when a tipster called Boca Raton Police about the teen.
BSO responded to the suspect's home and said they found a homemade pipe bomb and weapons.
Crews from bomb squad, violent crimes and strategic investigations divisions responded, along with Homeland Security and the FBI.
The teen is now facing a felony charge for possessing explosives.
Neighbor's said they were alarmed.
Jan Little said, "This is scary. I have a fence between us and the house next door but now I need to be paying attention to what is going on. He seemed like a nice kid. This is frightening. This is frightening. I guess you have to look at everyone. You just don't know."
Neighbor Talia Keller said, "Being the same age range as him, this is very scary. Someone can seem perfectly harmless and you see them walking down the street and then, in 5 seconds, they can turn. You just don't know."
Another neighbor, George Little, said, "Well this is terrible. We are losing our youth. But you also get numb to these bad things with everything happening in society. You get used to it."
Driving by, another neighbor, Rick Olivares, said, "This is terrible. I don't know if the kid should be locked up but something has to be done. This is terrible. You can't have this stuff happening."
Deputies want the community to report any suspected threats by calling (954) 764-4357.
Neighbor's and authorities say the youngster was homeschooled.
BSO says he had a prior arrest in Boca Raton.
He was going to appear in court for a hearing at the Broward Courthouse but it was reported that the youngster was "baker acted" Monday night and taken to a hospital. No date was set for another hearing.
