Pilot Rescued After Plane Crash Off Of Bimini

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Coast Guard air crews rescued a man whose plane crashed off Bimini Monday afternoon.

The plan went down just before 2 p.m.

The Cesna was traveling from Norman Cay, Bahamas, to Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport.

Air Force Rescue Coordination Center officials reported the plane was last seen on radar descending east of South Bimini Airport in the Bahamas.

The AFRCC received notification from an activated emergency locator transmitter that the plane was not on course.

The submerged aircraft and pilot were found in the water and rescued just before 4 p.m.

Officials said the pilot was taken to Air Station Miami in stable condition.
