Pilot Makes Emergency Landing In Haitian Banana Field

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (CBSMiami/AP) — The pilot of a small plane which took off from an airpark in Broward was forced to make an emergency landing in field of bananas in Haiti after the it developed mechanical problems.

Haitian police inspector Joachin Antoine said pilot Practor Antoine and his passenger John Michael took off from the Pompano Beach Airpark Wednesday morning bound for Port-au-Prince.

Wednesday evening the Cessna Super Skymaster went down just outside Cabaret, a coastal town northwest of the capital, Antoine said.

Antoine was treated for unspecified injuries at a hospital in the capital. Michael was not injured.
