David Smith, owner of the Amsterdam-based Leslie Smith Gallery, told the paper that when he arrived at his booth in Art Miami the artwork was missing.

"I've been doing art shows all my life. Even when I was a kid, I went with my parents," Smith told the paper. "I've never, ever had anything stolen."

The 1956 Picasso piece is Number 16 in a 20-plate series and is valued at $85,000.

The Miami Herald contributed to this report.
