Pembroke Pines PD Investigate School Bomb Threat

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - Pembroke Pines police are investigating a bomb threat at an elementary school.
Monday morning, police received word of the threat against Lakeside Elementary around 5:30 a.m. - long before the first bell of the day was set to ring.
That gave authorities and administrators ample time to alert parents via robocall and social media to keep kids always from the school at the school off of Pines Blvd east of I-75.
Officers were sent to search the school.
Some parents kept their children home. Parents who needed to take their child to school were asked to bring them to Walter C. Young Middle School where they were met by staff from Lakeside Elementary. Students already on buses headed to Lakeside were also brought to the middle school.
After searching the school and the surrounding grounds for several hours, the all clear was given.
Parents were then alerted that it was safe for their children to return. The school district says parents who decided to keep their kids home, will have the option of whether to bring them in at all today. Those at the middle school were taken to Lakeside by bus.
