Girl Hospitalized After Being Struck By Driver Who Ran Stop Sign In Pembroke Pines
PEMBROKE PINES (CBSMiami) – A child has been rushed to the hospital after being hit by a vehicle in Pembroke Pines near an elementary school.
According to Pembroke Pines police, a girl riding a bicycle was struck by a driver who ran a stop sign at NW 136 Avenue at 10 Street. Police say the girl was crossing the street in the crosswalk.
Video from Chopper 4 shows police in the intersection along with two bicycles, spotted in the crosswalk.
The girl was rushed to the hospital with life threatening injuries.
She is a student at nearby Lakeside Elementary School, according to police.
No other information has been released.
The driver was also hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
The intersection remains blocked off and drivers are being asked to avoid the area.
