SUNRISE (CBSMiami) -- Calling a hockey game starts bright and early for Steve 'Goldie' Goldstein.

"It's 10:30 a.m. and the Panthers are on the ice, watching them skate, making sure that all the players that are supposed to be in the game are out there. That's the number one thing you do -- count guys," said Goldie, who keeps a tab on players and the team in his notebook.

When he's done with practice, the afternoon is filled with production meetings, rehearsals and one-on-one conversations with coaches and players.

"As soon as a goal is scored at home, you try to be done as quickly as you can. And just be silent and let the players celebrating and the fans celebrating tell the story," Goldie went on.

It's a long day repeating up to 82 times a season. But win or lose, there's nowhere else Steve Goldstein would rather be.

"It's what I've always wanted to do ever since I was a little kid. And somehow it's actually worked out."
