POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) - A deadly shooting in Pompano Beach led to a police chase through North Lauderdale which ended in a crash in Tamarac.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said just after 10 p.m. they received reports of gunshots at an industrial shopping center on McNab Road between I-95 and North Andrews Avenue.

When deputies arrived they found Hector Alvarez, who had been fatally shot in the parking lot. A person who works in one of the businesses in the center said the unit where the shooting happened is used by a group of bikers known as the Top Gunz club.

"We're a motorcycle club, we spend all of our leisure time with each other and it's human nature that when people are in close proximity with each other that bad things happen, misunderstandings happen and sometimes the ultimate end occurs," said "Supe", one of the club's directors.

Alvarez and Roosevelt Francois, 30, were friends and both part of the club, according to Supe. They met up with the group and then a disagreement spiraled out of control.

"Take your closest friend, and then take another one of your closest friends, you guys would do anything for each other. Now have a very stupid argument happen between the two of those people and have one of them take the other's life. Then imagine how that would feel," said Supe.

After the shooting, the gunman took off.

"It's pretty scary, I live about a block from here," said Cheryl Colvert. "It's really scary."

Margate police spotted Francois. They, along with sheriff's deputies from North Lauderdale and Tamarac chased him through North Lauderdale. It came to an end when he lost control and rolled his vehicle at Southgate Boulevard and Pine Island Road.

Francois was taken to Broward Health North with minor injuries.
