Both shootings were west of Interstate 95 between Sunrise Boulevard and Broward Boulevard. The fatal one was in a shopping center that includes Presidente Supermarket and the other one was near a variety of business.

At 11:16 am, FLPD responded to the 1000 block of Northwest Ninth Avenue in the shopping center in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival on scene, one victim was located.

The man was taken to Broward Health Medical Center by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue where he was pronounced dead.

Presidente was one of only a handful of supermarkets open on Christmas Day.

"I don't think Christmas or any other day things like that should happen," Theodore Kelly told CBS News Miami. "It's just worse on Christmas Day."

Witnesses told CBS News Miami the shooting started after an argument broke out in the liquor store next to the supermarket.

The verbal argument got intense, and they went outside of the store to shoot each other, witnesses said.

Paul Donnelly says a "bullet just went through the window when I was sitting in there," but luckily he wasn't hit.

At 12:50 p.m, FLPD responded to Northwest Eighth Street and Northwest 10th Terrace in reference to a shooting. One victim was located and taken to the hospital by FLFR with non-life-threatening-injuries.

Both investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information about the shootings is encouraged to contact FLPD at 954-764-4357
