Official Confirms Beckham's Possible Interest In Broward For Stadium

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami/Miami Herald) – David Beckham is now considering meeting with Broward officials about a soccer-specific stadium, a Broward County official said.

According to CBS4 news partner, the Miami Herald, Broward County commissioner Stacy Ritter confirmed that Brian Ballard, one of the team's lobbyists, has conveyed the willingness to speak about the possibility.

The talks are expected to begin soon and it's too early to tell the level of interest Beckham's group has.

Ritter said county-owned land near the Panthers' arena (BB&T Center) would be a "great fit" for the stadium.

Beckham had hoped for a stadium near the PortMiami site and the boat slip site or next to AmericanAirlines Arena. Both were rejected by local government officials.

Beckham's group has said it's assessing its options regarding Miami.
