Bieber Body Guard Charged With DUI After Rear-Ending Cops

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The head of security for singer Justin Bieber has been charged with DUI after he allegedly rear-ended a Miami-Dade police cruiser overnight in The Hammocks.

Michael Arana, 32, hit the officers at SW 88th Street and SW 152nd Avenue. He was picked up a few blocks away at SW 88th Street and SW 157th Avenue.

One injured officer was pulled from the patrol car and airlifted to the hospital. The second officer was also taken to the hospital. Both were treated and released.

According to police, Arana tried to flee the scene but he didn't get far.  "Miami-Dade Police officers were in the area totally unrelated to this investigation.  They heard and saw the crash.  They were able to stop the vehicle that had collided with the Miami-Dade Police vehicle," said Miami-Dade Police Dept. Det. Lee Cowart.

Arana works security for singer Justin Bieber. According to his arrest complaint, Arana told the police "Yes, sir" when he asked if he had been drinking. Police also found receipts for alcoholic beverages in his pockets.

Because of injuries to his mouth, police were not able to perform a breath test to determine blood alcohol levels. He refused to submit to a blood test.

In addition to the DUI charge, he's also facing multiple counts of leaving the scene of an accident with injuries.

In a YouTube video called "Secret Lives from The Watchtower," there's a profile of Bieber's bodyguards including his chief of security Arana who said he's been working for Bieber for three and a half years. In the video, Bieber refers to Arana as "Mikey".

"Mikey is, he's a leader and being a security guard you need to be a leader. You need to take control of situations and understand how to communicate and he's just the best at it," says Bieber in the video.
