MIAMI(CBSMiami) -- Americans are getting into the Halloween spirit and looking to splurge.

That's according to the National Retail Federation who conducted their annual survey.

The federation predicts consumers will spend $8.4 billion this year on candy, costumes, decorations and treats hitting an all-time high in the survey's 11-year history.

That means, according to the group, each person would spend about $83 on Halloween items this year.

And most of the spending will be on costumes and candy!

As for sharing that purchased candy, according to the survey, 71 percent of consumers plan to hand out that candy.
