Deadly crash leads to temporary closure of I-95 at Sheridan Street

I-95 lanes reopen after deadly crash snarled morning commute

HOLLYWOOD - The northbound lanes of I-95 between Sheridan Street and Stirling Road have re-opened after they were closed for much of early Monday morning due to a deadly crash.

The Stirling Road ramp to northbound I-95 was also closed during that time.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a man was walking in a center northbound lane when he was hit. The driver did not stop.

The man's body was then hit by several other vehicles.

The FHP said they found the man's vehicle on the inside shoulder of I-95. The vehicle was disabled from a previous crash.

Chopper4 over the scene spotted the man's body in the middle of the highway just north of Sheridan Street.

During the lane closures, drivers were forced to exit at Sheridan Street. Their best alternates for heading north were US 1 and the Turnpike.
