MIAMI (CBSMiami) – An SUV is riddled with bullets and an elementary is put on lockdown after a bank robbery in North Miami Beach Monday morning.
North Miami Beach police said the bank robbery took place at a Wells Fargo at 800 North Miami Beach Blvd. at around 10 a.m. The man reportedly held one person hostage and was armed.
Authorities said the robber fled in black Nissan SUV being driven by a woman.
An undercover police officer spotted the duo and started to chase them. After a brief pursuit, there was a shooting near NW 6th Ave. and NW 151st St.

The FBI said the thief was killed and his accomplice was apprehended. They are currently investigating if there was a shootout between the police and the robber.
As a precaution, police locked down Biscayne Gardens Elementary located at 560 NW 151st St.
The school later put in a "modified lockdown," which meant normal classroom activities resumed, but students are not allowed outside for any reason.
The students were released at their regular dismissal times 1:50, 3:05 and 4:05 p.m. However, the FBI asked parents to pick up their children at NW 5th Avenue and NW 150 St., instead of the usual school grounds.
