No Fatalities Along I-75 During Safety Campaign
TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/AP) — There were no fatalities on Interstate 75 during a safety campaign meant to curb traffic accidents, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The campaign, called "Staying Alive on 75" took place last weekend in Florida and six other states along the I-75 corridor.
FHP Director Col. David Brierton says the effort is to promote safe driving.
Several more "Staying Alive" campaigns are scheduled during the next few months. This is part of a national effort by the International Association of Chiefs of Police to cut down on traffic fatalities in the United States by 15 percent this year.
Troopers urge motorists to buckle up, obey speed limits, drive sober and alert and eliminate driver distractions.
