MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The oldest trophy in professional sports, the Stanley Cup, made an appearance in South Florida on Thursday.
1st National Bank, which is located at 57th Court and Sunset Drive, is also owned by the Chicago Blackhawks' Wirtz family. Bruce Wirtz MacArthur hosted the prestigious trophy.
The Blackhawks defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2014 Stanley Cup Finals, Chicago's third championship in the last six years.
The NHL allows the Stanley Cup to be moved around with members of the most recent winning team for short periods of time.
Each player and coach on the winning team is given 24 hours with the cup during the offseason as well.
Members of the South Miami Police Department picked up the cup at the airport and escorted it to the bank, where a private event was held for about 300 people.
