South Florida weather: New record set with feel-like temps in triple digits
MIAMI -- South Florida set a new high-temperature record Wednesday as the region continues to bake with feels-like temps in the triple digits.
The mercury at Miami International Airport reached 95 degrees, toppling the previous benchmark of 94 degrees that was set in 2020.
Today marks the hottest day so far of the year.
High pressure is building over South Florida, pulling drier air in and suppressing any widespread storm development. But spotty storms will still be possible in the afternoon and evening.
Thursday a disturbance will enhance our afternoon storm chances. Highs will remain above normal, in the low 90s.
This weekend the sea breeze will develop and with the heating of the day, we'll see our typical afternoon scattered summertime storms. Highs will stay in the low 90s Saturday and Sunday. through early next week.
